On weekend mornings, I climb atop the 175 ft tall bell tower at UCSB and wake up the campus by playing the world’s largest instrument - the carillon. I am a musician at heart, which helps in my practice as an engineer and scientist.
Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara who hopes to make wild ideas and stories into reality. My research is driven by pushing the boundaries of optoelectronics and technology. Specifically, I am developing methods to fabricate high-brightness and high-efficiency electronic displays using GaN µLEDs. I have conducted 3+ years of independent research on III-nitride metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) growth and nanofabrication.
My training as a musician has helped me connect people, train a creative mind, and stay in rhythm. These attributes translate to me being passionate about building/leading teams and telling stories; ideating and finding creative solutions to problems; and delivering results on time. Outside of work, I volunteer my time with national and local student organizations that work on providing more opportunities for students to succeed during and beyond college.
